When Paul Harris laid eyes on Ellie Caldwell the first day of high school, his heart stopped and never beat the same again. However, his best friend Lance spoke first and ended up with the girl. Paul watched them from the sidelines as he fell harder and harder, caught beneath rules of friendship and bro codes. Ellie secretly desired Paul, but he never made a move.

Ten years later, Ellie is living in New York City, worlds away from her ex and the man her heart always craved. A New Years’ resolution sends her back to the country, bringing Ellie face to face with her past.

A forbidden love unfolds between a small town cowboy and a big city fashion designer. When time and distance are no longer excuses, secrets and broken promises come in between Paul and Ellie. All because of the one thing that has always stood in their way … Lance Walton.

I absolutely love Paul and Ellie’s story. They overcome ex-boyfriends, best friends, miss communication and timing to finally be together. After everything that they go through it was nice to see them end up together, happy in each others arms.

Sometimes I felt like yelling out them to make up their minds and let the other know how they really felt instead of just running away because it was the easy option. However true love is never really easy.

Paul is just the sweetest cowboy ever and Ellie is so sweet-hearted. They made one really cute couple.

It was good seeing how this story fit in with the events in the first book. I loved how it filled in some of the gaps and made me love Tom and Jordan more seeing through the eyes of the other characters. Most of is book overlaps with the first one, so some parts felt a little repetitive. But I still enjoyed it.

Gavin Blake is so mush better in this book compared to the first one in the series. Not that there is anything wrong with the first book. But man does he really step up the game.

With Emily finally choosing the man of her dreams and going after him when he gives up all hope of them ever been together life looks good for the newly formed couple. That is until the unimaginable thing happens (read the book to find out more about this). Once again the ex is involved in their lives and won’t give up without a fight.

Loved every minute of this journey. There is one scene that is totally heart-ripping towards the end. If you’ve read it you know what I’m talking about. So did not see it coming.

Will be missing Gavin Blake, but he will be well remembered.

{Review} Scorned (From The Inside Out #1)

by S.L. Scott

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is not a pure romance story. This is what happens after love gets ugly and the road to recovery. If you are looking for a lovey dovey romance novel, this might not be your thing.

I was a little unsure about reading a heart break novel, but SL Scott soon put all my doubts to rest. This novel really gets right down into the nitty gritty of heart break and how one woman trys to overcome it all to move forward in life. Of course the past is always there and it does come back to haunt her.

I liked how Jules didn’t just fall back into her ex’s arms and all was forgiven. She showed him what she was really thinking. You go girl.

Don’t read many serials anymore but will be sticking this one out. I’m really intrigued to see where this one will go.

Jesse Ward drowned her with his intensity and blindsided her with his passion, but he kept her away from his dark secrets and broken soul. Leaving him was the only way Ava O’Shea could survive. She should have known that Jesse Ward is impossible to escape–and now he’s back in her life, determined to remind her of the sensual pleasures they had shared. Ava is equally determined to get at the truth beneath this man’s steely exterior. That means letting herself get close to the Lord of the Manor once more. And it’s exactly where Jesse wants her–within touching distance…

Jesse and Ava’s story continues in ‘beneath this man’. Everything I liked about the first book in the ‘this man’ series applies to the second book in the series.
Their relationship is getting more intense and at some points a little suffocating. Ava is unsure as to whether she should stay and break her heart even further. How much heart ache can one person really suffer?
Jesse starts to show his true colours and we get to learn more about his colourful past. However is may be his past that becomes the ultimate undoing with his relationship with Ava.

Reading Jesse’s POV at the end of the novel is always something exciting to look forward to. If only they were a bit longer.

Welcome to the sensual world of This Man…

Young interior designer Ava O’Shea has no idea what awaits her at the Manor. A run-of-the-mill consultation with a stodgy country gent seems likely, but what Ava finds instead is Jesse Ward – a devastatingly handsome, utterly confident, pleasure-seeking playboy who knows no boundaries.

Ava doesn’t want to be attracted to this man, and yet she can’t control the overwhelming desire he stirs in her. She knows that her heart will never survive him and her instinct is telling her to run, but Jesse is not willing to let her go. He wants her and is determined to have her.

This Man is Jesse Ward and he is one smoking hot Lord of the Manor. He also needs the extension to the manor redecorated.

Enter Ava, a young interior designer who thinks that the manor is not really her thing and thinks it would be better for one of the more traditional designers from the company she works for. However she has been specially requested. Thinking she is off to meet some stuck-up old country gentlemen, she is surprised instead to find a handsome, no boundaries playboy running the ‘hotel’.
Their attraction is undeniable. But what starts as a bit of fun, so becomes something much more. Ava is way in over her hand, and must escape to save her mind and her heart. Yet this becomes harder and harder as Jesse is determined to have her and will stop at nothing to pose her.

Loved Ava so much, but loved Jesse even who. They just seems to click really well. The other characters in the book are a delight too.

Also liked reading the bonus scene from Jesse’s point of view. Very enlightening. Wasn’t sure if I would at first, but glad I did. I love reading into the mind of the leading men. It good to know what they are thinking for a change

When Jonathan was gone I couldn’t stop thinking about him, and the first thing he did when he got back was demand more of me. I’m willing to give him my orgasms and my time, but I find myself giving up pieces of my heart.

My career is on track, and even though I can’t write a thing, I can sing. So I’ll go to the art opening with him, because his ex wife will be there. I feel this need to protect him from hurt, though in bed, his domination brings me to my knees.

This man is going to break me into a million little pieces.

“Jonathan was master of my nudity, my positions, and my orgasms. and the first screw of the evening should have satisfied any normal woman for the night, minutes after it was done, I wanted him again.”

OMG is it possible for a book to get even better? Yep it can. Tease continues on from where beg finished.
With Johnathan gone all Monica can think about is what they did together and the undeniable pleasure it brings. It is messing with her life. However in a good way. Also Kevin, Monica’s ex is back in the scene. This makes for some interesting confrontations.
Johnathan is a little all over the place and I don’t know whether that makes for a good read or not. One part I just wanted to hold him, then the next slap some scene into him.
Jessica, his ex-wife, is the same. Although I’m putting her down us a bit a a bitch and someone that likes to get her own way. Can’t believe what she did to Monica at the end of the book. (you must read it because I ain’t giving nothing away)
