By the one person I trusted.
By the man who raised me as his own.
Who trained me to be the ruthless killer I am today.
Well, it’s time for payback.
I may not remember my past, but I’m going to show Ryuu, and all those responsible, what happens when you double-cross Emery Kane.

Blood will be spilled. Bones will be broken. Their bodies will fall.

My father created a monster. Perhaps, he should have learned to control me.

#4 Sweetest Kill

Fine. But if we die, you have my word that I will follow you around in the afterlife reminding you of what you did. You will be so sick of me that you’ll be trying to end your afterlife, but I will follow you everywhere and hunt you down, Tanner. Mark my words.

Sweetly Broken jumps straight back into the action. Emery hasn’t seen Grandy since she left him into the hotel room. But that hasn’t stopped her from trying to track down the people that are trying to kill her.

However the plot thickens when secrets are revealed about who Grandy really is. I did not see that one coming. I think when the author can keep me on my toes when reading, it just makes it that more interesting. Keeps me coming back for more.

I’m really starting to hate Caleb. What he did to that poor little dog; that was just cruel. He is one evil man.

It’s good to see that some of Emery’s past is coming back. I just that she is strong enough to handle to truth because she is one kick ass female lead.

But that ending nearly killed me *one-clicking next book*

Cassandra Carlson is working on her five-year plan. A professional dancer, she moved to Los Angeles after college to work at her best friend’s Hollywood dance studio. She decides she can put up with the glitterati for the time being until she saves enough to open her own studio back home in Cincinnati.

When soon-to-be A-list British actor, Christopher Edwards, comes to her for dance lessons for his new film, the attraction is instantaneous and intense. Both are young, available and beautiful, but while she finds Hollywood garish and superficial, he’s on the brink of realizing his life’s ambition with no inclination for a serious relationship. Or so he thinks.

Just when their white-hot desire can no longer be denied, a jealous actress targets Cassandra in an insidious scheme, and a powerful studio head poses a formidable threat to them both. Cassandra puts herself in jeopardy in order to protect Christopher, but will she lose him in the process?

Closed Set was a little different then what I was expecting. I was thinking more along the lines of a sweet romance; dance teacher meets and falls in love with up and coming big time actor. However what I got was something a little different.

When I started the story it was ended in the direction of a sweet romance. Then things slowly start to heat up pretty quickly. Cassandra, our virgin dance teacher, seemed to really rush to the sex with Chris. She came across in some of the scenes as more experienced then she should have been.

Chris seemed nice enough, and then does wrong by Cassie not once, twice but three times. He clearly had some issues. Why she should stay with him is beyond me. But they did get a sort of happy ever after so that was nice.

{Review} Tears of Tess (Monster in the Dark #1)

tears of tess front cover

Tears of Tess (Monsters in the Dark 1) by Pepper Winters

Rating: 5 out of 5

Tears of Tess is intense, gripping and I never wanted to put it down.

I couldn’t believe that this was Pepper debut novel. I would never have known it was. Everything just flowed so beautiful, like she has been writing for years. It was just….. I don’t know, if this trying to get over it really. My mind is still lost in the book somewhere.

This book is not for everyone. If you want hearts and flowers between the main character look else where. However strangely enough Tess and Q do have some lovely-dovey moments. Yet most of the time the novel deals with some pretty dark themes.

Tess is one strong gal. With everything that she has to deal with I’m surprised she didn’t break earlier. She is the kind of person you want fighting with you, not against you.

Two things I wanted most in the world: for Q to die a miserable death, and for him to fuck me

The first time Q appeared on the scene, I immediately got goose bumps. There was just something about his presents. The way that he holds himself. I just wanted to know all his secrets. He is one complex man.

He was smooth water—effortless in refinement but just like still water, dangerous if you couldn’t swim

I may be a monster but I was her monster.!

Upon starting this novel, I knew what I was heading into, well at least I thought I did. Now having finished it, it was totally different to how I thought it was going to play out. I’m kind of glad, I like a story with a good surprise or twist. Keeps me guessing and coming back for more.

I promise to protect you, ravage you, hunt those who hurt you, and give you the life you deserve. My fortune is yours. My secrets are yours. And I will give you the corpses of the men who hurt you.
